Syed Manzur Elahi

Syed Manzur Elahi is a prominent businessperson in Bangladesh.He is the chairman of Apex group,a leading business organisation in Bangladesh.He was also an advisor to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh in 1996. His father Sir Syed Nasim Ali, was the first Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, and his eldest brother Justice Syed Abul Masud also retired as Chief Justice of the High Court.

Manzur joined the erstwhile Pakistan Tobacco after graduating in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He left the lucrative job to start his own tannery business. After tremendous success in the business, he gradually entered into other types of businesses. In 1996,he was appointed as an advisor to the non-partisan Caretaker Government of Bangladesh.

He is the founder Chairman of Apex Tannery Group, Pioneer Insurance Co. Limited, Grey Advertising (Bangladesh) Ltd., President of East West University and Director of International Chamber of Commerce, International Publications
Ltd.

He was director of Bangladesh Bank, Sonali Bank, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Export Promotion Bureau and Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Besides being an eminent industrialist and businessman, Syed Manzur Elahi is the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belgium in Bangladesh. A widely travelled man in connection with business and industrial establishments he was awarded "Business Executive of the year 2000" by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh and later
"Business Person of the Year" award sponsored by DHL and The Daily Star.
