Engineer Khandker Mosarraf Hossain
Engineer Khandker Mosarraf Hossain assumed the responsibility of Minister for Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare & Overseas Employment to the present Government on 7 January 2009. Besides, he was also given the portfolio of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. He was elected a lawmaker from Faridpur-3 constituency in December 29 Jatiya Sangsad elections.
Mr. Hossain was born at Harokandhi Village of Faridpur District in 1942. He completed his BSc in Civil Engineering and MSc in Traffic and Highway Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) in 1959 and 1963 respectively.
With the assistance of the then Government of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman he obtained a competitive scholarship and completed Masters in Engineering from Strathclyde University of UK in 1974.
He was the first Chief Engineer of Rural Workers’ Programme in Bangladesh.
He is the current President of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), a post he holds successively for two tenures. He is the current Chairman of Faridpur Division and Padma Bridge Implementation Committee. He was also the President of Glasgow-Scotland, an association of Bangladeshi Community of UK.
Eng. Hossain is blessed with two daughters, one son and seven lovely grand children.
