Born in Sylhet, newly appointed Finance Minister AMA Muhith obtained his BA honours in English Literature in 1954 and MA from Dhaka University in 1955. Muhith joined Pakistan Civil Service in the following year. During his service life he studied at Oxford University during 1957-58 and at Harvard University during 1963-64.
